What styles of dining room chairs do you have?
We offer nine styles of dining room chairs, as shown in the photo to the right.
We can provide matching benches, high chairs and barstools for most designs. However, we do not have photographs of many of these -- they are not ordered as commonly as standard dining room chairs.
Below are some design suggestions on the best match for each table. These are simply helpful guidelines -- many customers find that lancaster chairs match perfectly well with a mission table.
Our Pedestal and Colonial style table matches well with all of our chair designs.
Mission: The Mission design is a natural complement to our Mission, Trestle, Railroad and Western style tables. It is available as a chair with arms, a chair without arms, a barstool, a high chair, and also as a bench. It is also available with padded seating or in mixed wood combinations.
Lancaster: The Lancaster design is a natural complement to our Lancaster and Harvest style tables. It is available as a chair with arms, a chair without arms, and also as a bench. It is also available with padded seating or in mixed wood combinations.
Trestle: The Trestle design is a natural complement to our Trestle, Western, Railroad and Mission style tables. It is available as a chair with arms, a chair without arms, a barstool, and also as a bench. We offer two styles of bench -- one that is very similar to our trestle style table, and the other with a back that is complementary but not quite as perfect of a match. We have found it difficult to carry this same trestle aesthetic across to our larger (deeper) chairs and benches. Trestle chairs are also available with padded seating or in mixed wood combinations. As this design is new, our craftsmen require 6-8 weeks to complete work on the chairs.
Western: The Western design is a natural complement to our Western, Mission, Railroad and Trestle style tables. It is available as a chair with arms, a chair without arms, and also as a bench (no photo available). It is also available with padded seating or in mixed wood combinations.
Harvest: The Harvest design is a natural complement to our Harvest and Lancaster style tables. It is available as a chair with arms, a chair without arms, and also as a bench (no photo available). It is also available with padded seating or in mixed wood combinations. As this design is new, our craftsmen require 6-8 weeks to complete work on the chairs.
Eastern: The Eastern design is a natural complement to our Eastern and Railroad style tables. It is available as a chair with arms, a chair without arms, and also as a bench (no photo available). It is also available with padded seating or in mixed wood combinations. As this design is new, our craftsmen require 6-8 weeks to complete work on the chairs.
Zen: The Zen design is a natural complement to our Eastern style table. It is available as a chair with arms, and without arms. It is not available as a bench, barstool or high chair. It is not available with padded seating or in mixed wood combinations. As this design is new, our craftsmen require 6-8 weeks to complete work on the chairs.
Colonial: The Colonial design is a natural complement to our Colonial, Pedestal, Mission, Trestle and Eastern style tables. It is available as a chair with arms, a chair without arms, and also as a barstool (no photo available). It is also available with padded seating or in mixed wood combinations.
Mixed Hardwood: Mixed hardwood chairs are not a distinct design, but simply an easier way for customers to browse through our available mixed wood options.
Do you have other styles of chairs available?
Yes, we also have a number of other dining chair styles available. We have focused on providing chairs that best match our existing dining table designs.
If you are looking for a particular dining chair that we do not carry, please contact us to discuss your preferences. We will try to find a match for you.

What kind of custom work do you do?
As all of our dining room chairs are handmade to order, we can create a set of custom-sized dining chairs for your family. We can adjust the length, width and height to meet your needs.
We can accommodate most custom requests that do not change the overall character of the design, or compromise its strength and integrity. For example -- we can remove slats from a mission dining room chair for aesthetic purposes, or make the chair a bit taller. But we cannot remove a structural element, nor can we make substantial modifications to the basic design of the chair.
What kind of seat padding is available?
We offer optional leather seats on most of our chairs, benches, high chairs and barstools. They are available in 8 different colors.
What kind of mixed wood chairs are available?
Mixed wood chairs are available in a number of options, including diamond inlays, mixed wood fluting and border chairs. Please see our mixed hardwood chairs section for more information.
We can also create very simple mixed wood patterns with stained woods, such as Antique Cherry and Red Cherry. This option is a custom order, and must be done over the phone. These simple patterns are limited: no mixed wood inlays or no diamond inlays are available. However, the chair undercarriage and seat can all be a different color.
How do you assure the quality of your dining room chairs?
Our dining room chairs are handcrafted individually by Amish master craftsmen with several years of furniture building experience. We use exclusively 100% genuine hardwoods to create sturdy pieces that are designed to last for generations.
We are confident in the quality of our furniture. We offer a full money-back guarantee and a one-year warranty on all of our pieces (see details below).
What guarantee or warranty does Harmony Cedar provide?
We offer three assurances on the quality of our dining room furniture:
1. Money-back guarantee. You may return a dining room table that you are not satisfied with, or simply refuse delivery and request a full refund. As each table is created individually to order -- we hope that it is clear that we could not offer this guarantee and remain in business if the quality of our dining room tables was not simply outstanding. In six years of business, we have had no returns out of an estimated 2,000 dining chairs, barstools and benches shipped throughout the United States, England and Canada.
2. Because our dining room furniture is expertly handcrafted, we stand behind its quality. In the rare event that there is a problem, our craftsmen will cover 100% of their handiwork for one full year from the date of delivery. (Please click on the link for details).
3. Our reputation is at stake if we do not meet our customer's expectations. We have built a strong reputation for ethical and responsive customer service that is the foundation of our business.
Both Rick and I (Erik) are native Minnesotans, and we were raised to do right by other people. We strongly believe that a business must uphold its end of the social contract by being responsible to its customers, to the land, and to the community at large.
We encourage you to view the testimonials sent in by our customers. There are well over one hundred posted on our website.
We are proud members of the Better Business Bureau and the Twin Cities Metro Independent Business Alliance. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
Is there a way for me to sit in a chair and test it out?
If you're interested in a dining set and feel it is important to sit in a chair prior to purchasing, please let us know. While we do not maintain an inventory, we do have a few chairs on hand that we can ship out to you for a nominal fee. The chair may not be the precise style and wood type you're looking for, but it may help you to to make a decision.
Please call us at 1-888-959-8899 to discuss this in more detail.
Do you have a store or showroom?
All of our pieces are created to customer specifications. We do not maintain an inventory of dining room furniture.
We do have a showroom in South Saint Paul, MN that has several pieces that you're welcome to stop by and see including a beautiful walnut dining room table in the mission style. Please let us know you're interested, and we'll be happy to arrange a viewing time.
How do you arrange proper shipping and packaging of a dining room chair?
We have been shipping our handcrafted furniture all across the country, and internationally, for nearly six years. We have successfully delivered our furniture pieces to thousands of satisfied customers. We ship via several different methods, depending on the size of the piece.
Despite our best care to prevent damage, it does happen sometimes. We do our best to minimize inconvenience for our customers when it does. We also hand-deliver many of our dining room tables and matching pieces. This practice nearly eliminates the potential for damage to our furniture.
