Details on the Mission Bench

Our mission benches are created from 100% solid hardwood. We use only genuine hardwoods -- there is no pine, plywood filler, pressed wood, "select hardwoods" or veneers used in our mission benches .

If the bench is dinged, scratched or gouged via accident then your chair can be sanded and refinished. This is the benefit of solid hardwood. Our dining furniture is very solidly constructed and are intended to be a living part of your home and family, to be handed down from one generation to the next for many years to come.

Our mission benches measure 17" from the floor to the seat. The seat is 12" deep. The length is determined by the size of the bench you order.

Choosing a Finish

We offer a variety of stains and finishes for our mission dining room chairs. Please click here for details on the available wood finish options.

If you're unsure about the finish for your chair, we encourage you to order wood samples. Color accuracy on our website cannot be assured due to a number of variables including lighting, the camera used, and the settings on your computer monitor.

Mixed Hardwood Characteristics

Mixed Hardwood chairs are created from Cherry and Walnut, or Maple and Walnut. These two combinations create the best contrast from the natural colors of the hardwoods.

Choosing an Mixed Hardwood Finish

We can finish our mixed wood chairs in one of three ways: Unfinished, Natural (clear varnish) and Traditional Oil and Wax. Please click here for details on these finish options.

If you're unsure about the wood choice or finish for your chair, we encourage you to order wood samples. Color accuracy on our website cannot be assured due to a number of variables including lighting, the camera used, and the settings on your computer monitor.

Shipping and Packaging

Our benches take 4-6 weeks to create. Shipping times depend on the service used, but is generally around one week for delivery.

Benches ordered individually (without a table) are shipped via UPS Ground or Curbside Freight Delivery. Benches ordered with a table, hutch or server will be hand-delivered along with the other pieces.

9 times out of 10, our dining chairs are completed and delivered within this timeframe. However, true craftsmanship cannot be rushed -- sometimes a piece just takes a bit longer. Please let us know if there is an important holiday or event we should be aware of when you place your order, and we will do our best to get it there on time.

Seat Covering

Our standard chairs are created from solid hardwood, and are contoured for comfort. We also have leather seats available, which replace the standard wooden seat. The standard seat design is square on the corners -- a rounded design is available on request (see the photo below for more details).

You can see photos of a mission leather chair here.

You can see a swatch of eight available colors here.

Mixed Wood Composition: : There are two basic configurations for a mixed wood chair (the other options below allow you to customize this even further). You may have the seat be a different color than the rest of the bench. The light wood is either cherry or maple (depending on your choice under 'Mixed hardwood Finish'), and the darker wood is Walnut.

Mixed Wood Slats: The slats in the legs (three on the left, and three on the right) and the back of the bench (five slats) may be done in a mixed wood combination. Click here for photos of this option on a dining room chair. You may have the lighter wood be the dominant mixed wood color (maple or cherry), or the darker wood (walnut).

Custom Benches

We can also create custom sized benches for your family, common changes include raising or lowering the seat by an inch.
