Oil and Wax

This is the same Oil and Wax finish used by our craftsmen to create this original finish. You will need to this to maintain and polish the Oil and Wax finish in particular.

Oil and Wax has the same citrus base as orange oil with the addition of natural beeswax. Its recommended use is on Danish Oil finishes that do not employ a surface sealing finish. The oils will penetrate into the wood while the wax seals the surface, maintaining a beautiful, rich luster.

Instructions

For cleaning, we recommend using orange oil with a dry cloth.

For maintenance, we recommend using the oil and wax. Buff in a layer with a dry cloth, let it dry for an hour, then wipe away the excess with a second dry cloth. Let the table stand unused for 24-48 hours to let the wax set properly. You should do this 2-3 times per year.

To repair damage like scratches or dents, use fine steel wool or fine grade sandpaper to buff it out. Re-apply 2-3 coats of oil and wax to the damaged spot, and then apply oil and wax to the entire table. (Note: cherry wood will take some time to darken to match the color of the rest of the table, as it darkens with time and with exposure to sunlight).
